Stolen Vehicles Recovered by Rural Crime Team

On Thursday 26th September 2024, the Rural Crime Team ran Operation Thira, targeting caravan theft. They spoke to numerous caravan owners throughout the operation, however during the night their eyes were diverted from caravans to machinery with a suspected stolen mini digger and trailer seized suspected to be stolen; enquiries to this are currently ongoing.

Later in the evening one of the units noted a suspicious 4x4 vehicle with no front registration plate, after conducting vehicle checks on the rear plate officers realised it had no insurance, no tax and no valid MOT plus several information markers linking the vehicle to crime.  Before they could catch up with the driver the vehicle was abandoned on a property in Barnacle; the vehicle was seized due to being seen on the highway by officers.

Yesterday (1/10/24) Rural Crime officers attended and located a stolen motorhome following receiving information that it may be in the vicinity.  It was recovered and returned to its owner within 24 hours of the theft from the Atherstone area.

This morning (2/10/24) at around 8am the Rural Crime Team were alerted to a call where a caravan had been abandoned on a disused plot of land in the Rugby area.  Officers from the team attended and confirmed that the caravan had been stolen earlier in the morning from an address in Warwickshire and seized it for returning to the owner.
