Let us know your thoughts on how we can protect our communities in Warwickshire

Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Seccombe, has launched a public survey seeking vital feedback on the key priorities that will shape the next Police and Crime Plan.

There are three key focus areas of the plan that the commissioner is consulting on. The third priority is protecting communities, where the Commissioner wants to centre on some of the issues that people raise most frequently with him as things that have the biggest impact on their daily lives. Within this there are four areas of focus.

  • Reducing Acquisitive Crime: The cost-of-living crisis has increased financial pressures, leaving businesses and individuals more vulnerable to crimes like retail crime, residential burglary, theft and robbery. The Commissioner is determined to see coordinated action to dispel the perception that these offences have a low priority for criminal justice agencies.
  • Reducing Crime in our Rural Areas: Warwickshire has an enviable national reputation for the work it is already doing to tackle rural crime.  The Commissioner wants to further enhance that capability, through continued support for the Rural Crime Team and a new strategy to build up partnership working to address wildlife, heritage crime, theft of farm machinery and livestock, as well as issues such as fly-tipping which plague rural communities.
  • Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour:  The Commissioner wants to ensure that there is a coordinated response by all partners to tackle anti-social behaviour, building upon the work of Operation Resolve and the hot spot patrols that are currently being undertaken.
  • Responding to Serious Organised Crime:  The Commissioner wants to see continued disruption the criminal networks that infiltrate our communities, driving violent and exploitative behaviour, as well as fraud and cybercrime.  He will support work to prevent crime groups from establishing a foothold, with a key focus on tackling drug supply and production. Public education is also essential. He will prioritise educating the public on staying safe online and practising effective crime prevention measures.
  • The Commissioner is interested to hear what you think about these and other draft priorities. Take the survey today at: https://eu.surveymonkey.com/r/warkspcc
