Joint Warwickshire & Thames Valley Police vehicle crime operation

Wondering why you saw so many Police vehicles in your area on Thursday evening?

During the evening and into the night of 30th January, we conducted a joint operation alongside TVP Cherwell, Southam Police, and Stratford Police, targeting rural areas recently affected by vehicle crime.

Throughout the operation we carried out PNC checks on suspicious vehicles and attended emergency incidents on both force areas including ANPR activations and road-related calls. Multiple drivers were dealt with at the roadside for offences including no MOT, excess speed, no headlights, and obscured number plates. 1 vehicle failed to stop for officers and the driver will be dealt with at a later date for this offence.

Above all else, over 40 villages saw a high visibility police presence whereby 15 officers teamed up in 7 marked vehicles and patrolled hundreds of miles across Warwickshire Police and Thames Valley Police areas. This included the locations of Wellesbourne, Kineton, Gaydon, Southam, Bishops Itchington, Harbury, Fenny Compton, Farnborough, Banbury, Hanwell, Horley, Great Bourton, Cropredy, Mollington, Wroxton, and many other rural villages in-between.

Sgt Nash and PC Reading were feeling a bit camera-shy on this occasion, but they promised they will be front and centre in our next team photo!
