Strange Sightings in Studley and Henley-In-Arden! |
||
Yesterday afternoon I spent 3 hours walking through Studley, repeatedly stopping at regular intervals to be told how pleasing it was to see an officer walking through their street. One gentleman on Station Road said he hadn't seen such a thing in years and another lady thought she was seeing things. Whilst we are around more often than some may think, it seems to go unnoticed in police cars.
This experience was continued earlier today when I spent 2 hours walking around Henley-In-Arden. This foot patrol was without agenda, other than to simply be present, contrary to one young ladies opinion I had just forgotten where I had left my van! Said with a smile.
Our society has changed substantially over the decades. The diversity in offending, new technology and increasing legislation has forced the police service to adapt over the years. In Alcester North in particular, over the last 40 years or so, residents have seen their local officers centralised and moved away from ‘police houses’ located in local villages. Whilst this evolution has taken place for necessary reasons, I have been reminded this week just how much it means to members of the public to see a ‘bobby on the beat.' As such, I will endeavour to conduct more such foot patrols throughout the Alcester North region, moving forward, wherever possible. I look forward to seeing you all in due course. Do say hello.
