Help Our Paws on Patrol Thrive in Warwickshire |

The Police and Crime Commissioner is inviting residents to volunteer for a new scheme that will help safeguard the wellbeing of police dogs in Warwickshire. This is a chance to play a meaningful part in ensuring the force’s hard-working dogs receive the care, respect and ethical training they deserve. We have begun the search for Animal Welfare Scheme Volunteers, open to anyone who is 18 or over and who lives, works or studies in Warwickshire, to carry out welfare checks on how police dogs are housed, trained and transported. After each visit, successful applicants will complete a short report on their observations. These reports will help confirm that every police dog is cared for properly and that all training meets humane and ethical standards. The Dogs Trust is supporting the scheme and will provide full training to volunteers, covering everything they need to know during visits. There is no physical contact with the dogs. All dogs are vaccinated and volunteers will take part in a six-month probation period. Most visits will take place at Warwickshire Police Headquarters in Leek Wootton. They will be arranged in advance and will happen a few times across the year. Volunteers will need to make their own way to and from visits. As only a small number of volunteers are required, an informal interview process will take place to help us select those best suited to the role. If you would like to apply to become an Animal Welfare Scheme Volunteer, please visit the volunteer section of our website where you can download and complete an application form. Please complete your application form by midday on Tuesday 31 March 2026.
